Baptists Choose Marshalltown for 1822 Meeting Drama
The Baptist convention selected Marshalltown as the next meeting place, with Clinton as a contender, citing central location. Rev. Clyde Jims of Waterloo and Rev. Carman of Shenandoah led sermons, and standardization of ministry criteria was approved amid debate on centralization. The convention drew 456 delegates, the largest in 80 years, with praise for the Dawn pageant and Sabbath observance resolutions. The BPU annual meeting and life service volunteers were also noted.
