Courier item reunites Waterloo jeweler with Polish relatives
Charles Tenenbaum of Waterloo Manufacturing Jewellers reconnects with family in Warsaw after eight years. A Courier and Reporter notice triggered letters from the Jewish Welfare Board and Mr Nest, revealing Poland’s wartime censorship, rationing, and Polish Jewish tensions under Paderewski. Relatives report unemployed Poles, relief aid, and a preference among some Jews for former Russian rule over the unstable Polish republic. The Polish government blocks emigration.
