Increases are strongest in eastern and southeastern states with smaller gains in the west where growth mainly feeds the commercial market. Alfalfa Bill of Orcaroma Quits Bolivian Farm
Oklahoma City reports that "Alfalfa" Bill Murray has sold his Bolivian grazing lands and is returning home. The letter to the Daily Oklahoman gives no reason. Murray led a 1924 Bolivian colonization scheme with 192,000 acres leased near Stan Tarija, amid harsh conditions and eventual abandonment by most colonists. Murray, born in Collinsville, rose to political prominence in Oklahoma and gained fame as a staunch self-promoter and advocate of a new hay variety.
