State College Presents Large Butterfly Exhibit in Ames

In Ames on Oct 26 17 060 butterflies from around the world were added to the zoological collection at Iowa State College. J S Paaborg Clinton gathered many specimens over 50 years with help from Dr Crake head of the department. The collection includes Atlas moths from Java and death's head moths from Japan. Faaborg began collecting as a Danish teacher about 60 years ago and sold the collection to the college for a modest price to serve the public. This addition makes Iowa State’s holdings among the largest in the Midwest.
