Will Census Change the Size of the House
Uncle Harry explains to Jimmy that population growth after the 1910 census could lead to more representatives only if the House votes to change its size. With 435 members, roughly one for 210 000 people, a large population rise might require about 55 to 60 new members, though many argue 435 is already too large. The final decision rests with the House after the census director’s report arrives.
