Dubuque Must Pay Big Bills in Water Trust Debts
The Iowa Supreme Court affirmed a district court ruling against Dubuque, settling the coal bills contract dispute with the Martin Strelau Company. The $42,000 claim plus interest pushes the total debt to about $60,000, with related bills from Mulgrew and Smedley Pump likely adding around $16,000. The decision affects longstanding city campaigns over water works trustees contracts.
