Orinoco Claims Case Settled by International Court
The Hague October 25 the international court of arbitration ruled the Barge award null on certain points and granted the American company 46867 with interest since June 16 1903 and 7000 costs. Venezuelan payment due within two weeks. The case stems from Castro's repudiation of a privilege granted to the Orinoco steamship company and a prior award of 28700 to the company by Dr Barge. The United States had objected to the ruling, claiming a violation of international law, leaving the matter unsettled at The Hague.
