Waterloo man’s revival tale ends craving for liquor
J F Bates of Waterloo spoke in Fort Dodge at the M C A building about his conversion during Billy Sunday’s Waterloo campaign. Once a heavy drinker, he drank after Sunday called him but then attended the meeting and pledged to quit. After conversion he fasted three days and nights, fearing physicians warned of heart strain. Bates has had no desire for intoxicants since, reuniting his family and restoring harmony at home.
