New Storehouse and Improvements Under Way
Work has started on a fireproof storehouse and purchasing offices for N. F. N. & N. Co. in Litchfield addition near the Cedar Valley line shops. The project marks the first step in a multi year plan to replace shop district buildings with larger, better facilities costing about $20,000 for the initial 60 by 120 structure. The main floor will house a storehouse and powerhouse substation, with purchasing offices on the second floor. The contract was awarded to Black Hawk Construction Co. Progress on other nearby projects includes a new freight depot at Lafayette Street and a Waverly interurban connection set for completion in about two weeks, plus a cottage on Duryea Street and a near finished home at Galloway addition.
