Storage Eggs Move Steadily Amid Short Supplies And Market Rumors
Chicago reports a steady egg market with last Monday’s price increases for firsts and prime firsts and light receipts at 17,039 cases over four days. Fresh arrivals are tight while storage eggs attract strong demand, with April to June prices around 19c to 16 1/2c. Potatoes in Riverhead indicate scarce island supplies as Long Island Potato Exchange markets most of the crop and growers seek higher prices. Austin subdivides on Guilhem’s turkey plans amid a near- historic crop and expected industry backing. Rain improves area truck farming with fall crops and early vegetables expected to rise.
