Baptists Vote on University Gift and Fund Plan
The Iowa Baptist convention debated requiring a fundamentalist pledge for Des Moines University before recognizing its trustees. A motion failed amid division, but 64 pastors pledged to raise a $50,000 fund to aid the university, with a plan for a revolving fund and eventual $400,000 endowment to prevent bankruptcy and debt.
