Jowans to Ship 20 Percent Less Livestock This Winter

Des Moines Oct 22 AP Iowa will ship about 20 percent fewer head of livestock to principal markets during November December and January this year than usual. Knute Espe secretary of Iowa Live Rock Shippers association said this in Des Moines noting lower cattle and hog production and lighter shipments in the first nine months of 1925. He cited sufficient car supply so far this year but peak loading in the next three months with reduced shipments and cheaper feed likely to keep cattle and hogs longer on farms. He estimates a stock car requirement of 58 000 for Iowa in coming months a 20 percent drop from last year. Illinois figures hint a 10 percent fall in October and likely November too.
