Sunday Sermon Sets Pennsylvania Hills Aflame

The New Castle meeting featured evangelist Sunday addressing a large crowd about the liquor question. About 7,400 heard the sermon, with nearly 3,000 conversions expected and 8,000 showing intent to change their lives. The Youngstown Symphony orchestra and Mendelssohn Handel selections accompanied the program, and Sunday praised the troupe while urging action against saloons.

Self-respecting subscribers resist paper price advertising war

The Evening Courier laments rivals attempting to lure readers with promotional glassware from New York. It argues such tactics fail to win over loyal subscribers and hurts home merchants by waging aggressive competition and stealing local business.
