At the Chicago Coliseum seventh annual used car show, entries must pass stringent tests before display. Cars endure checks on engine, wiring, brakes, tires, frame, and body condition, with green tags awarded to compliant vehicles.
A series of 42 enlarged photographs depicting precision and production methods in Chevrolet car manufacturing is on display at the H. M. Chevrolet Company in Waterloo and at the sales premises.
General Motors Buick division reports September sales of 3 012 cars and trucks, down from 48 565 last year. GM manufacturing division sales reached 8 379, the highest for any September. In Cook County 647 Buick registrations occurred, up 137 percent from September 1924, while other makes rose 36 percent.
Hudson-Essex Cars Ltd reports over 200000 units built to date in 1925 as production expands from 6060 in 1927 to 85000 in 1923 and 125000 in 1924. Local Hudson-Essex dealer W. J. Keefe credits consistent value and overall quality for growing demand and forecasts 1925 may double 1924 sales.
Frank Colcord Jr announces a new Dodge Brothers credit purchase plan for financing Dodge Brothers cars and Graham Brothers trucks. Commercial Investment Trust Incorporated and affiliates offer facilities to all Dodge Brothers dealers. President F. J. leads the initiative.
Haynes informs all Dodge Brothers dealers that the policy aims to keep costs down for the public. The credit purchase plan provides low rates, making it unnecessary for buyers to pay more than quoted rates for two Dodge Brothers cars.
Cooperation with the sheriff and police chief in Iowa prompts Standard Battery & Electric Co to install an indoor range for free headlight testing. Last week 49 car owners used the facility to adjust lights to meet the law, using a 75 foot beam range and a 20 by 6 foot white screen. Tests provide a certificate from the police and sheriff plus motor vehicle rules. Open to the public Thursday to Saturday nights.
The 1916 Cadillac owned by David Hartford crossed the continent from Los Angeles to Detroit in 102 hours 22 minutes over 2897.8 miles averaging 28 mph. The car, used by Hartford to film a new motion picture, will be used in rough backcountry filming and forest fire scenes. Road conditions in parts of the West were poor due to rain storms, yet the car withstood speeds up to 50 mph.
