College growth fuels debate on future education funds
A six year surge in college enrollments prompts the Institute for Public Service to warn that by 1950 about 1.13 million students could be in 210 institutions. If rates keep, 659,000 students are projected for 1930 and 1.135 million in 1970. The study questions whether taxation endowment gifts or higher fees will fund these larger student bodies. It cites Yale sized growth and cites the College of the City of New York as leading the six year rise.
