Man 8 Years Old Near Death After Struck by Engine
Joby W Sherling a boy eight living at ninth Street was struck by an Illinois Central switch engine at the yards crossing on Fourth street at 3 p.m. Saturday. His left leg was broken above the knee and he had injuries to the head. Witnesses say the child failed to notice the locomotive and walked into its side. He is in critical condition at Ren Memorial. Fred G. Nehlsen, 74, longtime Green Tea Room proprietor at 502 Commercial Street, Waterloo, died Sunday at Presby terian hospital after an operation with complications. Born in Germany April 14 1866, he came to the United States in 1893 and held posts with the Chamber of Commerce and local stores before opening the Green Tea Room in 1924.
