Senate Debates Censorship of Obscene Books and Customs Policy
The senate debated censorship and a customs list of 139 barred titles, led by Senator Bronson of New Mexico who urged banning obscene works. Cutting accused clerks of reading indecent literature, while Norris, Ditty, Wheeler, and La Follette voiced sympathy.
