Auto Tax Builds Roads Elsewhere
Motor car owners in Black Hawk county pay large sums for highway improvements in other counties. Since June 1, $103,926.77 has gone to the state treasurer, and funds are drawn from the permanent road fund. Distribution is by county area, not vehicles, benefiting larger counties like Kossuth. Black Hawk boards delay paving plans, awaiting farmer petitions, while only drainage and grading proceed, notably on the Logan Avenue road.
