Convicted Man’s Wife Identifies Victim in Burned Strawpile Case
Des Moines Oct 8 AP Barrett former policeman and deputy sheriff said he identified the body found in a Carlisle straw pile on Aug 10 as Pearl Epperson or May Carlson, formerly of Connell Bluffs. He traced the remains through a sweater fragment and teeth, noting the victim left Omaha July 21 with a man now unnamed. They traveled to Des Moines, then toward Port Madison, and the straw stack burned July 24. Barrett continues to seek the Omaha man, believed to have fled to Chicago.
