Porter to Speak at Democratic Rally in Lincoln Park
Claude Porter Democratic candidate for the United States Senate will headline a Democratic rally in Lincoln Park on Thursday evening October 14. Ellis E Wilson, third district candidate for congress, will join Porter. If weather is bad the event moves indoors. the rally is organized by the state central committee. Porter rose to prominence 20 years ago in a governor bid against Albert B Cummins in Black Hawk county. He has campaigned since June primaries against Republican opponent Smith W Brookhart.

A large barn on the HW Y Grover farm two miles west and one and a half miles south of Independence Ta burned. The fire occurred in October and involved extensive property loss for the Grover farm.
