Sheriff A B Chivington and deputies pursued about a half dozen more band members who abducted A M Perry manager of the Moffat coal mine Wednesday night and held him two days for sixteen thousand dollars. Perry seized a revolver from an abductor and killed the guard then fled to a nearby ranch house to notify authorities as S M Perry of Denver arrived with fifteen thousand dollars and detectives to aid in the capture.

German U boat reaches Newport after T Day
The German submarine U-53 from Seem shaven arrived in Newport Harbor in 17 days. Commanded by Lieut Capt Hans Rose the warship flew the German flag and carried one deck gun.
