Where Past and Present Meet in Franklin County
In Mampion Oct 5, a description of Reed's mill neighborhood two miles north of the city recalls Franklin County's landmark. Once a bustling mill built by T. N. Mansburg in 1859 at 4000 dollars, later expanded, it produced 156 barrels daily at its peak before ruin. Now only walls, ruins, and memories remain as progress and railroads ended the era. Henry Paullus owns the property, while the mill race dries and Reed's lake fades from public use.
