Shriners Locate Branch Hospital in Minneapolis
The Shriners plan a Minneapolis branch hospital to serve crippled children with an outdoor clinic and five additional hospitals nationwide. Dr. Oscar M. Laustrum leads the effort with a $2 annual per Shriner, funding a $25 million Foundation Fund, and a 450,000 eligible child population in need. Architects Buckner and Orth of St Paul and Bertrand & Chamberlin of Minneapolis design a brick building with white stone and Moorish features.
