Mother saves infant as flames destroy Davenport home

Mrs. Jesse Ganaway of 1609 Dridgee avenue Davenport woke to a blaze that engulfed her house. She carried her two year old to safety through smoke while seven children aged two to 16 escaped. An overheated stove is suspected. neighbors called the fire department as the home burned.

Girl 3 Is Killed After Running Into Car

Hazel Horvat aged 3 of 738 Twenty-fifth Street was struck at Twenty-fifth and Pleasant Streets in Des Moines yesterday afternoon by a car driven by Mrs. Lucy Woolery of 727 Twenty-sixth Street. Hazel, daughter of Paul Horvat of the City Fuel and Supply, was instantly killed. Woolery is in police custody.
