Des Moines October 2. John Douglas 41 a Maxwell area farmer confessed to Esther Whitney s father after being accused of intimate relations with the 17 year old high school girl. He asked to be killed. Whitney later learned of warrants against Douglas for a statutory offense. Douglas was found dead with a bullet wound to the temple as officers sought him.

Two Desperadoes Shot In Roadhouse Battle
Chicago dispatch reports six armed men threatened a Burr Oak inn but were met by the proprietor waiter and bartender all armed. In the shootout one robber was killed and another seriously wounded. Interurban car burns on Cedar Falls tracks injuring NE man
A Cedar Falls interurban train near Sans Souci bridge caught fire after a trolley wire sparked, injuring one passenger who jumped from a window.
