Snow disrupts telegraph and phone lines across Waterloo
Heavy wet snow halts dozens of telephone and telegraph circuits in Waterloo. 150 drop wires and about 15 poles toppled as snow rose to four inches by noon. Western Union and Bell reported widespread outages but trains and streetcars ran largely unimpeded. The warm melt caused most failures, with colder weather forecast to end the trouble.
