State bonds are only quick way to pave Hollis
Cedar Falls Nov. 24 state road bonds are the only rapid path to paving, says Rep C A Hollis highway chair after review of laws. He says primary fund of about 15.3M yearly will cover maintenance and county bond interest, but 56 counties with 62M in bonds must retire in 15 years. If no state bond issue passes, many counties face 12 to 15 years without hard surfaced roads, as funds and refunds drive construction and grading. Hollis urges early submission of a state bond issue or a special session to avert prolonged county-bond reliance.
