Des Moines November 23 Gov W G Harding issued a Thanksgiving proclamation designating Thursday November 28 1918 as a day of thanksgiving. The text honors divine guidance victory of Allied armies and the sacrifices of soldiers urging services of praise and gratitude and reflecting on national resilience during wartime.
W J Peddicord secretary of the Waterloo and Cedar Falls Union Mill says flour is moving in larger lots now as substitutes are no longer required. A carload of wheat flour and a carload of substitutes cost about nine thousand dollars, too large for dealers to stock. Rice flour arrivals show weak demand and the government plans to seize surpluses if needed.

Cedar Falls Iowa Nov 23 The 160 acre Grundy county farm bought by J Sliffsgard and Sliffsgard in 1888 for 4000 is now sold to Chris Syndergard for 34000 at 212.50 per acre. The seller notes an unearned increment averaging 1000 a year as land values rose from prairie to valued farmland.
