Iowa Road Legislation Aims For 1925 General Assembly
Des Moines reports plan to dominate the Fortieth Iowa General Assembly with a comprehensive road program. Proposals include an $86 million bond issue funded by automobile fees and a two cent gasoline tax, plus alignment with federal aid rules and central control by the state highway commission. Two thirds of gasoline tax receipts would bolster secondary roads, while distribution debates seek broader state authority and surfacing standards for federal main highways.

In some cases women remain in roles once held by men, proving capable, though much of the wartime labor was heavier than employers consider permanent for women.
