Ancient mummies found in steam warmed Aleutian cave
Thirteen Aleutian mummies were discovered in a steam heated cave on Raganel Island. Seventeen were sent to the national museum in Washington. The mummies were dried and wrapped in sea mammal skins, forming a burial cache warmed by volcanic fires. The Aleutians, once Russian territory, show modernization as residents adopt American life and crafts. An added note describes a new portable circular saw with a 22 pound weight and modern features.
