Iowa farmers face losses on corn crop says Farm Bureau
Iowa farmers expect a record corn crop of 477,336,000 bushels but will lose money at current prices, says Charles Hearst of the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation. Heerst notes farmers lose 8 to 13 cents per bushel, despite a large yield, and urges price relief and proposed government export measures. Also reported: plans to merge farm organizations into a central cooperative body of 23 states, discussed at the National Farmers Union convention with Governor Gunderson addressing early sessions.
