Waterloo considers optional electric rate cut for many users
The Waterloo City Council heard a proposal from Towa Public Service to allow an optional new rate reducing bills for about 40 percent of users. The plan would cap 25 kilowatts at nine cents and next 25 at seven cents, with a one half cent late fee and a $1 minimum bill, aiming to ease unfairness for large outlets while causing an estimated $24,000 annual loss to the utility.
