Tishenbanner plan for permanent Iowa state roads proposed
Des Moines November plan by F J Tishenbanner of Gilmore City to devote automobile tax to build permanent macadamized roads. The proposal urges state funded crushed rock or gravel shipped freight prepaid to nearest station with residents loading and placing materials along a few state roads. The plan seeks legislature action this winter. It cites costs of 1170 to 1850 dollars per mile and argues to build 235 miles yearly with auto tax funds. Governor elect Clarke and others endorse.
