Texas Cotton Mule Now a Grandmother
Bryan Texas November 12 Old Beck an ancient Texas cotton mule has become the only known mule grandmother. A. H. Groth of Texas A and M College reports in the Journal of Heredity that Old Beck produced a daughter in 1920 by a jack and later a foal by a college stallion. The stallion sire now has a saddle-worthy colt, and Old Beck is a grandmother. The horse-like colt shows saddle aptitude and intelligence while Old Beck’s daughter remains without further issue.
