Battleship Maryland to take Hoover to South America
Final orders from Washington require the battleship Maryland to carry Herbert Hoover to South America. Hoover is slated to board at San Pedro on November 20 and sail the same day, with Balboa listed as a first Panama Canal entry point. The ship will depart from a southern California port no earlier than next Monday after undergoing drydock conditioning.

Men Arrested in Hotel Give Bond
E J Slattery of St Paul age 28 and R H Armstrong of Augusta Ga age 35 were released on $50 bonds after petty larceny charges. They and their wives and Katherine Armstrong 14 were arrested Saturday at a local hotel when a package mailed at the post office containing towels and linens was recovered. A 32 caliber revolver and officer badge were found in luggage. Slattery and Armstrong claimed they were selling advertising for a railway and shop men directory.
