Armistice Day Observances Across Cities
Armistice day spread nationwide with varied ceremonies. In Omaha a lone bugler played taps on courthouse steps while crowds largely ignored the tribute. Paris marked the armistice anniversary with a solemn tomb of the unknown soldier review led by top leaders. New York hosted a ten thousand strong parade and church services urging peace and the end of militarism. Other cities like Lincoln Milwaukee Indianapolis Columbus and St Louis held ceremonies and parades as veterans gathered to honor the late President Harding and remember the war’s end.

Secretary Mellon outlines a tax revision to cut the nation's tax bill next year by about 2323 million, arguing that a soldiers bonus would delay relief. He proposes lowering earned income and normal tax rates, widening exemptions, and starting surtax reductions at 10000 dollars. The plan relies on a revenue surplus if the bonus bill fails to pass.
