The navy department reported a patrol boat ran ashore in U S home waters on November 12 with the vessel’s name and location withheld. No injuries were reported and salvage efforts began promptly to refloat the craft.
Chicago Nov 12 A local theatre manager offered a full performance of a popular show at Fort Sheridan on Sunday for student officers. Col James A Ryan, commandant, issued a terse order approving the show. He urged that they would not protest when the boys in the trenches defend their homes, so the men may be allowed to laugh on Sunday.
New York, Nov. 12. An army of 250,000 workers in a major city began a week long drive to raise 35 million dollars for the Young Men's Christian Association. Twenty five thousand committees will cover every area in the effort. A push to enlist White-Collar workers with the slogan one day’s pay for soldiers away was launched.

Paris Nov 22 American congressmen touring the British French and American fronts report shell fire near Vimy ridge on the British front but saw no bombardment of German positions on the French front. They visited engineers headquarters and American batteries and spoke with troops returning from the trenches.
P A Gunder was arrested at his father's Ames farm for obtaining money under false pretenses. He allegedly formed a partnership with Mr Cooper to run a livestock business with offices at Norwalk. He drew checks on Cooper Gunder and obtained funds from several banks and companies in Waterloo and Des Moines. A preliminary hearing is set before J T Knapp.

Mrs. Ray Spiker of Waterloo was seriously injured when the car she rode in left the rear seat after hitting a barbwire fence two miles from Cedar Falls on the Janesville road. The driver lost control at a corner, others escaped serious injury. She was taken to Sartori hospital after initial care at the Dave Hanson home.
