Baseball News From City Hall Meeting and Dozen Fights
The meeting drew few baseball fans as delegates P J Martin Frank Boyle and William Ewald from the city hall session prepared to attend the Chicago major league clubs meeting next week. A Havana team beat Havana 10 to 2. Sam Langford knocked out Jeff Clark in the second round of a planned 10 round bout at Jopilo. The boxing world questions the Drake and Towa camps bear rumors and the old Reno fight unresolved. Jeffries’ performance remains the main talk with debates over possible frames or misdirection, while efforts to reveal the truth continue. The New York Globe notes Dalton may practice law in Brooklyn after his baseball career if planning carries. Abe Attell earns large sums but bets on ponies, and bookies take his money rapidly. The Detroit club won its first Cuba game. Arthur Devlin signed a 1911 contract with the New York Giants next season. McGraw to trial Buggs Raymond again, possibly sending him to a drink-habit clinic at the Giants’ expense. Battling Nolgan faces Owen Moran on Nov 26 in Frisco. Immmermann shines at third, while Steinfeldt’s fielding slipped at short. Ammmerman impressed with hitting. Chance plans to rebuild pitching. Mordicai Brown may return. Reulbach likely returns, though Overall doubts his longevity. Cole shows promise, Pfeiffer has one more season, and Weaver is a strong young pitcher. The catching staff remains stable with no major changes.
