Busses Decrease Accidents Says Operator at Meeting

The Iowa Electric Railway association heard Charles Munson of Iowa Hailway & Light report that substituting busses for street cars at Marshalltown Inc. increased passengers per mile, kept operating costs steady, and cut accidents by 20 percent. He noted routes expanded, car miles rose, and headways improved, though he favored eventually stopping transportation. Local Dubuque and Waterloo lines were cited as successful examples of bus and streetcar mix to extend service while managing costs.
