Word from the war department confirms Carl Midiff, born December 22, 1894, at the Manchester area, was killed September 28, 1918. He was a Lenox college student, Y M C A president, and a Co I 139th Infantry member who trained at Camp Dodge after enlisting February 23, 1917. He leaves his parents J L Midiff and a large family including six brothers and four sisters. A Manchester business meeting later features EC Wolcott and a dinner at Weekler cafe on November 8 to discuss recruitment and overseas service.
