New Methods of Training Nurses Sought in Iowa
Des Moines reports state nurse board reveals rising nurse registrations, 285 recent registrants, and an alarming ratio of nurses to population. The 1900 to 1928 data shows one nurse per 590 people, prompting a national committee to study changes in registration and training. The eight months work yearly leaves only seven paid, with one month unpaid charity or family care. Distribution issues push nurses to cities, not rural areas, prompting calls to regulate placements.
