Local Market Figure Buys Fort Fourth Street Building
The Central Fruit market operator who once ran the Olympic fruit store at Fourth and Jefferson closed a cash deal for 227 Fourth Street West, formerly the Progressive Shop Repairing shop, from Fred Wray of Pioneer National Bank. The 20 by 60 foot building changes hands through F L and John L Marquis. The buyers already own the adjoining Liberty case property on Jefferson Street. The cash price was not disclosed and the purchase is believed to be an investment. Discovery of Greek and other Mediterranean coin hoards in Egypt highlights regional reliance on Egyptian food supplies.
