Night Fire Destroys Asphalt Plant In Waterloo

Fire swept through the Bryant Asphalt plant on the spur of the W C G F N railroad in Shilliam's addition. Four heating tanks burned entirely while four others were saved by the fire department building sand barriers and stone dust around the blaze. The fire started from overheated mixture reaching 400 to 500 degrees, water proved ineffective, and crews fought all night. Plant owners expect to resume by tomorrow or Saturday and note minimal street paving delays in Waterloo's business district. The Methodist All Star course seat reservations opened at local drug stores.
