Welders Chase Three Suspects In Slitsgard Hold Up

Waterloo police chief Dinneen and City Detective Welch pursue a strong, though incomplete, circumstantial case against three suspects in the assault and robbery of J. T. Slitsgard at about 3 AM on Monday. Slitsgard was struck with a sand bag, taken to the hospital, and his condition improves. Officers separate the suspects, sweat them for alibis, and seek enough evidence to unmask the real assailants who discussed forcing off Slitsgard’s diamond ring. The incident echoes a prior similar crime, with cautious steps to avoid convicting innocents.
