Aviation Leads World Attention With Endurance and Accidents

Air activity across the United States and abroad tops public focus. A 172 hour 32 minute refueling endurance record was set at Fort Worth by Reginald L. Robbins and James Kelly in a single motor monoplane after a cracked propeller risked disaster. A second endurance flight was under way from Wichita with Owen Haughland and Gene Shank refueling the Miss Ranger en route to Minneapolis. Herbert J. Fahy abandoned a 21 hour 16 minute solo attempt in Los Angeles due to fog and high winds. At Old Orchard Beach two trans Atlantic attempts await better weather, the Yellow Bird carrying three French crew toward Paris and Green Flash aiming for Rome. Weekend aviation news also notes two accidents costing lives and injuries. In Yuma, Arizona, Harvey S. Christof remains involved as efforts continue.
