Mrs. E. H. Pedicard hosts a luncheon at Black's tearoom for Miss Virginia Pedicard bound for the Redpath-Vawter Chautauqua circuit. Notables attend. later events include receptions, suppers, and club meetings at local churches and venues throughout the week.
A reception honors Rev. Marion Wiint and Mrs. Flint at 8 PM at Burton Avenue Baptist Church. The program features piano and vocal solos, a string trio, talks by several pastors, and a trombone solo. Mrs C L Rose and Mrs C F Catshall organize the program and refreshments.
Grade school Girl Reserves will entertain their mothers principals and YWCA board members at the closing ceremony for the year at 730 pm tomorrow at the association building. The program includes group singing led by Miss Florence Gabriel a reading by Marian Aldridge a short operetta Then Rose Dream by McKinley schoolgirls and features such as the honor cup rings and new member recognition. The evening ends with a candle ceremony and a social hour.
Mrs. N J McNalley and Mrs. H M Sneillenberrer hosted a courtesy party for Miss Alice Weller ahead of her May 31 wedding to Donald P Main. Guests included Mrs. William Fate of Chicago and several local ladies and misses, with a luncheon featuring pink and yellow roses and pansies. Des Moines speaker Mary Fletcher of the Towa Viavi company will address women at the YWCA tomorrow at 2 pm on The Greatest Thing in the World. The Pandora club postponed its meeting for a week with Misa Muriel Baumgartner hosting. Inter-Nos club gathered for dinner last evening in the Hotel Russell Lamson private dining room. Juniors of Central Christian church present A Mother Goose Pageant for home missions at 8 p m Wednesday in St Thomas Methodist Episcopal church. Creator Mea vrus Carpenter directs with actors including Blossom Sherry Nellie Evans Zelma Brough and Mary Richardson in roles such as Red Riding Hood Little Boy Blue and Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe.
Mrs JL Grover was elected president of the Child Conservation club at the YWCA building. Her staff includes Mrs Herbert Ruby as vice president and Mrs Merritt Ludwig as secretary. The group changes meeting day to Fridays and plans summer home gatherings with Mrs Giles as next hostess.

W. R. Baumgartner of 795 Nevada avenue is in critical condition at St Francis after a two week stay for paralysis. Mrs. Ernest Gunther of Denver Iowa underwent emergency appendicitis surgery at Presbyterian Hospital. Mrs. Alvin Hayes of Fairbank Iowa recovered well after recent St Francis hospital operation and expects to return home soon. W. V. Wheeler, J B Roof Realty general manager, spoke with his mother in a two hour telephone call. Women from St Mark's and Christ Episcopal toured Waverly for a district Mission Auxiliary meeting with a service, picnic and program. Waterloo's Independent Chautauqua begins Monday afternoon June 20 at the Dairy Cattle Congress hippo drome with a Southland Artists concert. Five day program includes Bishop Hughes Senator Ferris Dr Ira Landrith and operas and concert numbers.
About 250 bankers from the district gathered in Waverly on May 24 for a luncheon at 1 o’clock preceding the after noon session of the annual convention. The opening ovation occurred in Palace Theatre with J. B. Van Horn of Iowa City presiding as Waverly unveiled new gold and blue convention decorations.
A joint meeting completed the organization of a physician advisory staff for Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. E. F. Stevenson heads the staff with Dr. E. L. Rohit as vice president and Dr. H. A. Bender as secretary. All city physicians are considered members. A liaison committee will connect the medical associations and the trustees.
