Veterans Hear Two Addressed at Memorial Services
Two stirring memorial sermons were delivered Sunday to members of Robert Anderson Post No. 68 G. A. R. and to Spanish American War veterans, the Women’s Relief Corps, and other auxiliaries. The morning parade formed at the G. A. hall and marched to First Baptist Church where Rev W L Dorgan urged unity, patriotism, and the conquest of sectionalism. He recalled Civil War memories and praised endurance of veterans while urging continued service. Rev L C Moore from New York spoke at Central Christian Church urging peace through a strong national defense and education for higher citizenship, warning against disarmament and emphasizing America’s missions in humanity. He cited past battles for liberty and urged resisting moral decline and respect for the Lord’s Day, warning against saloon prosperity and secularism.
