State Hospital for "Brain Sick" to Open at Iowa University
Des Moines May 28. The state board of education moves to meet two new laws from the Thirty-eighth general assembly to take effect July 4. One creates a psychopathic hospital at the state university and the other extends the Perkins law to adults seeking treatment who cannot pay. A $175,000 building will be erected for the psychopathic hospital, with work likely to start soon but completion over a year away. The Perkins expansion will allow adults to access care at the university hospital, a boon to many suffering individuals. The psychopathic hospital at Iowa City evolves from years of study and psychological research. The Perkins law has overseen rising admissions to the hospital for children since 1915, and the extension promises broader help for adult cases.

Tent City Plan For Clear Lake Summer Visitors
City and the former provisions approve a statute allowing a 16 year old or older guardian to erect a large army style tent city near Clear Lake to house summer visitors. Mr Hopkins leases lake shore property to rent 6 by 6 square tents for a week to those unable to secure cottages or hotels. The commercial club supports the project with water privileges, sanitation, and daily removal of garbage. A band and a ladies band are planned to enhance the summer audience.
