Local Angler's Grewsome Catch Ties to Federals Signing
Fort Dodge Iowa May 20 Clarence E Bruce of Waterloo while fishing in the Des Moines river pulled in his line and found a twelve pound baby instead of a fish. His companion David H Holdiman of Waterloo aided and the coroner was summoned to take charge. The baby boy was two or three days old and wrapped in a black coat and red gingham apron pinned with safety pins. The body showed little decomposition and it is thought the infant died before being thrown into the river. Bruce a brakeman and Holdiman a conductor on the Illinois Central railroad were en route to Waterloo yesterday morning and expected back this afternoon.
