Presbyterians to Expand Pension for Ministers and Dependents
New York May 1 Ministers retired due to age or health total 907 and receive church pensions. The Laymen's committee reports $15,900,009 raised for the ministry and a proposed $315,000,000 campaign to fund an adequate annuity system. 485 widows and 62 orphans also receive pensions with average payments of 328 to ministers, 266 to widows, and 179 to orphans. The board splits relief and sustenance, aiming to raise pensions to at least 600. The effort follows a push to strengthen the church pension program.
